 MINNEAPOLIS - Goldy Gopher, mascot for the Univesity of Minnesota, is in the hot seat after mocking Penn State defensive end Jerome Hayes while he was praying during pregame warmups last Saturday. "I'm so offended by the whole ordeal," Hayes said. "I'm not sure if I want to play football again." Several religious organizations are pushing for the school to drop Goldy as their mascot. "The University of Minnesota does not condone behavior like that. There will be disciplinary action," Minnesota spokesman Dan Wolter said. "I'm sorry," Goldy said in a written statement. "I'm not really sure what exactly offended everyone, but I guess I'm sorry." Penn State won the contest 20-0. |
